Jimmy Choo Man is the scent I have been wearing for the last three days. It was released in 2014 by perfumer Ann Flipo, well-established in the industry and frequently works alongside some household names.
Usually, I’m not too fond of these kinds of scents; they’re too modern, generic and bland for my liking, but I am a fragrance reviewer nonetheless, and this is not all about me; it’s about you, fine gentlemen.
Speaking of fine gentlemen, we all remember the advertisements with actor Kit Harrington (the guy from Game of Thrones). Here is an interesting quote that says a lot about the fragrance.
“Kit perfectly embodies the Jimmy Choo man. He is naturally masculine and seductive and has an innate sense of style. His cool attitude and his sensuality are in contradiction with the classic British gentleman.”
So there you have it, folks; if you are in touch with your “sensuality”, this could be the fragrance for you.
So is this Jimmy Choo or Jimmy Poo?
Here’s what I’ve found!
Appearance and Presentation
I don’t have the whole bottle in my possession, only a sample of it, but from what I can see online, it doesn’t look like I am missing out on much. It’s a plain, rectangular-shaped bottle with the “Jimmy Choo Man” logo on the front. It also has a leather snakeskin screw top.
I am sure it would look great on Kit’s bathroom cabinet.
Price and where to buy?
This juice is cheap, ranging from around £30.00 to £40.00, which surprised me. As you would expect with these kinds of fragrances, there are other more expensive flankers, including an “Intense” version, and I’ll talk about that as well.
When it comes to getting the best deal, your best bet is almost always the discounters — especially when they’re running coupon codes. And the one that’s never let me down is FragranceX.
They ship worldwide, they only deal in authentic stock, and they’ve got a solid 30-day return policy, which keeps things risk-free.
Prices do move around (sometimes daily, especially during holiday sales), so it’s always worth checking the current deal. 👇

The Notes
Pineapple Leaf, Suede, Lavender, Melon, Pink Pepper and Patchouli.
First impressions
This is a watery, sweet, fruity fragrance. The lavender is very prominent, and the patchouli and leathery notes give it a bit of weight, but that’s all I am getting with this one.
My Thoughts about this scent
It’s pleasant and moderately enjoyable, but it is essentially a shopping mall scent, at least to my nose. That doesn’t necessarily mean it is a lousy fragrance; it depends on what you’re after. If you want something safe and inoffensive, you won’t go too far wrong with it.
These kinds of fragrances are acceptable and have their uses, but they are generic and forgettable. If it’s a generic type scent that you’re looking for, there are better options available, and you would be better off looking elsewhere. Is it a compliment puller?
It is for some people, but not for me, it would seem. My wife made an appreciative comment yesterday, but I don’t think she was blown away by it. I can tell the difference!
Is it manly?
Let’s put it this way: it won’t put any extra hairs on your chest, but yes, it is, to some extent. This fragrance is for the grey man who wants to smell clean and fresh without standing out too much.
What about Jimmy Choo Man Intense?
I have also tested this one, and it is more or less the same on steroids, with a much better performance. Why not get it right the first time?
Performance
I will make no bones about it; the performance is almost laughable. I know It’s not just my skin chemistry because this has been said consistently across the fragrance community.
It faded within about an hour before becoming a mere skin scent and a very faint one at that. The lack of compliments was likely because no one could smell the damn thing.
If you get on with this scent, you may have to re-apply it several times throughout the day to make it last. Alternatively, you could buy the Intense version to solve your problems in this area.

Want to try this fragrance on your skin?
If you’d prefer to sample it first, these are my two favourite
and most reliable places to get authentic decants:

Where to wear
Pretty much anywhere you can think of. Remember that if you are on a night out with a group, your fragrance will probably be drowned out by theirs. Furthermore, if you are in any open space, you can forget about anyone being able to smell this.
It would be nice to wear around the house, but do you want to spend good money on a designer fragrance for that use? Probably not.
When to wear
It’s an all-rounder; any time of year will work. It’s one of those fragrances intended for someone looking for a one-size-fits-all solution. The scent would do the job, but again, you might have to purchase the Intense version for it to be taken seriously.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Price is affordable compared with other designer fragrances
- Clean, fresh and pleasant scent
- Safe and inoffensive
Cons
- Sillage and longevity is terrible
- Generic & somewhat boring
- Smells like a shopping mall scent
Final thoughts
The scent is good but boring and predictable. I am glad I can bin this stuff now and move on to something else that is more my style. I know this scent gets a lot of love, and I am not saying it’s terrible; unfortunately, it didn’t do anything for me.
I am always interested in hearing your thoughts, so comment below on your experiences with this one.
