Greetings, gentlemen. This week I’ve been wearing a fragrance that’s still relatively new on the scene — Myself Eau de Parfum by Yves Saint Laurent.

It’s not something I would’ve naturally gravitated toward or considered as “myself,” but it landed in my hands as a gift from my in-laws, who recently flew over from Australia. Presumably a duty-free pickup — they know I’m into fragrances, bless them.

Nevertheless, I gave it a fair shot, wore it for a full week, and here’s how it’s been for me.

The Background

Myself EDP was released in 2023 and composed by Christophe Raynaud, Antoine Maisondieu, and Daniela Andrier — three heavy hitters in the fragrance world.

• Christophe Raynaud is known for Invictus by Paco Rabanne and 1 Million Lucky.
• Antoine Maisondieu worked on Montblanc Explorer and Armani Code Absolu.
• Daniela Andrier is behind classics like Luna Rossa by Prada and Gucci Rush.

Together, they’ve created what’s officially described as an aromatic fruity fragrance for men — and that’s a fair label.

In this review, I’ll break down everything that matters: the price, scent, performance, when and where to wear it, and ultimately, whether it’s worth your money.

Appearance & Presentation

The presentation is exactly what you’d expect from a modern YSL release — sleek, minimal, and contemporary, though lacking a bit of flair.

The bottle is clean and rectangular, with a matte black cap and clear glass showing off the juice inside. It’s refined and understated, but not particularly memorable. You could line it up with half a dozen other designer bottles and struggle to tell them apart.

Stylish? Sure. Distinctive? Not quite.

Price

Considering it’s YSL and an Eau de Parfum, the price sits right where you’d expect for a designer release — roughly £85–£100 for 100ml (as of 2025).

Personally, I wouldn’t pay full retail. It’s well-made, but not intriguing enough to justify the premium. That said, if you catch it discounted, it could make a solid everyday option — especially for office or casual wear.

Thoughts about the scent

The opening is bright, green, and refreshing, giving off that energetic, freshly-showered vibe that’s become a staple in modern designer releases. It quickly softens into a creamy, contemporary floral heart — smooth, balanced, and instantly likeable.

I emphasise modern because Myself EDP really leans into that “mall scent” personality — the kind of fragrance you smell drifting through the department store aisles. It’s friendly, familiar, and easy to wear… but a little predictable.

It feels youthful, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s got that crisp, confident energy that suits a younger guy — early twenties, maybe — who just wants to smell fresh and put-together without thinking too hard about it. For anyone deeper into the fragrance game, though, it might feel a bit uninspired.

The scent is fairly linear — what you get in the first hour is what you’ll still have at the end. No big twists or transformations.

As it dries down, it moves into a woody-musky base that’s clean and professional but lacks real depth. It’s pleasant enough but doesn’t leave a lasting impression — the olfactory equivalent of beige business casual.

Is it masculine? Somewhat. But it straddles that unisex line, leaning more toward “fresh and polished” than “rugged or bold.” Not bad — just a bit forgettable.

A dumb reach, if you will.

Compliment Factor

You’ll have no trouble here — compliments are practically guaranteed. This is one of those scents that 99% of people will enjoy, and a fair few will actually say so. It’s the kind of fragrance that earns an easy “You smell nice” from coworkers or passersby.

If your goal is to smell approachable and well-groomed, this one nails it. It’s effortless and universally appealing.

That said, there’s a world of difference between “You smell nice” and “Whoa, what is that?” Personally, I prefer the latter — the kind of reaction reserved for something with a bit of mystery.

Performance

A dependable performer with respectable longevity and projection. It lasts around six hours on my skin, with about two hours of noticeable presence before settling in. For an Eau de Parfum, that’s pretty good — not a powerhouse, but far from weak.

No complaints here; it does its job steadily and without fuss.

When & Where

Myself was clearly built to be an all-rounder, suitable for almost any setting or season. It’s versatile, tidy, and easy to wear. A particularly good office scent, actually. Normally, I’d be cautious with EDPs at work, but this one seems to behave itself reasonably well in that setting. 

It carries that “one-size-fits-all” attitude — not thrilling, but undeniably useful. If you want something that consistently smells good and never offends, this is it.

Final Thoughts

So there you have it, gents. If I were Jeremy Fragrance, I’d probably tell you this is a must-buy — and to be fair, he wouldn’t be wrong. It’s mass-appealing, smooth, and well-executed. But if you’re after something memorable or daring, this won’t scratch that itch.

You know that guy on the morning commute — navy suit, brown leather briefcase, neatly trimmed beard, maybe carrying an umbrella (and not the classy wooden-handled kind)? Myself is his scent. And if that’s you, go for it — it fits the part perfectly.

For me, though, it’s a polite handshake of a fragrance — dependable, respectable, and entirely forgettable once you’ve walked away.
