Last week, I spent some time wearing Creed Viking Cologne—not to be confused with the original Viking Eau de Parfum. Despite both being EDPs, these are two entirely different fragrances with very different personalities. Both have their strengths, but they serve different moods.
Viking Cologne was released in 2021, crafted by Olivier and Erwin Creed. It’s officially classified as an Aromatic Fougère—a fresher, brighter take compared to the original Viking, which leans warm and spicy.

Viking Cologne comes with a bold orange label and the signature Viking ship front and center. It leans into that rugged, masculine aesthetic—but honestly, that visual fits the original Viking EDP better.
This version? It’s more refined. Less “battle axe on a fjord,” more “clean-shaven in a tailored suit.” Think classic aftershave—fresh, crisp, and controlled.
Pricing
Let’s be real—Creed is never a budget pick. It’s a luxury brand, and the price tag reflects that. So the real question is: does it earn the premium?
Sometimes, yes. There are a few Creed fragrances I’d gladly spend the money on without blinking. This one? Not quite. It’s good—but not “$300+ good.”
At the end of the day, it comes down to personal taste. If this scent speaks to you, then sure, it might be worth it. But if you’re expecting something bold, unique, or unforgettable, you might want to keep looking.

As it dries down, you get a soft base of woods and musk. It stays clean, fresh, and easygoing. Honestly, it doesn’t share much DNA with the original aside from a faint spicy echo.
To my nose, it’s a barbershop-style scent with a fresh aftershave edge. And I like that profile—but let’s be clear: this isn’t a showstopper. It’s simple, wearable, and safe. You won’t regret wearing it—but you probably won’t remember it either.

The performance? Let’s call it what it is—gently disappointing.
You’ll get about 2–3 hours of decent projection before it fades into a subtle skin scent. Not terrible, but for a Creed fragrance? That’s like bringing a butter knife to a sword fight.
And yes, it’s called “Viking Cologne,” but it’s actually an Eau de Parfum—so no, the name doesn’t excuse the lack of firepower. For this price, I expect at least one villager to flee when I walk into a room.

It’s a safe, pleasant scent—not generic, but definitely not memorable. It sits right in the middle: clean, fresh, inoffensive. You might get a compliment or two, but they’ll be the polite kind—“you smell nice” and then silence.
This isn’t a crowd-pleaser—it’s a crowd-tolerator. People won’t mind it, but they won’t chase you down to ask what you’re wearing either.
And look, that’s fine—if you’re spending $50. But if you’re paying Creed prices, you deserve more than background noise. You want presence. You want signature. Viking Cologne delivers comfort, not charisma.
When & Where?
As with most fougères, it’s versatile. You can wear it pretty much anywhere, any time, and it won’t offend. But as I always say: just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
It shines best in warm daytime settings—office, errands, casual lunches. Low-stakes, easygoing scenarios where you just want to smell clean and put-together. It’s a good reach when you’re not trying to make a statement.

So there you have it, gentlemen. Would I buy this? Honestly… no. Viking Cologne is a pleasant scent that plays it safe, but it leans a little too hard on the Creed name for what it actually delivers. At this price, I expected more than just “nice.”
You could find something with a similar vibe—and better performance—for less. If you’re a die-hard Creed fan or love clean, barbershop-style scents, it might still be worth sampling. But if you’re looking for boldness, depth, or real signature energy… this ship might not be the one to board.
