Greetings, gentlemen! This week—well, technically last week—I’ve been wearing Dylan Blue, yet another release from Versace that has quickly become a bestseller. I’ll admit I missed my usual posting schedule last week due to an unexpectedly unpleasant visit to the dentist. But better late than never—here it is!
To be upfront, Dylan Blue isn’t the most thrilling fragrance I’ve encountered, but it does have its strengths.
Released in 2016 and created by the talented perfumer Alberto Morillas, who is responsible for several noteworthy fragrances, it falls into the aromatic woody fougère category. I’ve generally enjoyed Versace’s offerings; I recently reviewed The Dreamer and Eros, and both left a positive impression.
But what about Dylan Blue, you might be wondering? Let’s take a closer look to see if it might be the right fragrance for you.
Appearance and Presentation
The bottle design is very much in line with Versace’s aesthetic, resembling some of their other releases. I’m not entirely sure what the symbol in the middle represents, though it could be the head of Medusa—I can’t say for sure. Regardless, it evokes a distinct Greek mythology feel, while the bottle itself has the appearance of a precious gem or stone reminiscent of something that belongs in Aladdin’s Cave of Wonders. Overall, the presentation exudes luxury, but is it style over substance? We’ll see.
The atomiser also performs excellently, providing a smooth, even spray, which is a plus.
Pricing
I’d say the price is “reasonable,” though it’s pushing the absolute limit of what I’d consider paying for something like this. That said, there are other fragrances that are not only better but also cheaper, which I’ll be sure to recommend soon.
You can find the latest version on Amazon below, but brace yourself—the price might shock you!

The Notes
Top Notes – Calabrian bergamot, Water Notes, Grapefruit, Fig Leaf
Middle Notes – Ambroxan, Black Pepper, Patchouli, Violet Leaf, Papyrus
Base Notes – Incense, Musk, Tonka Bean, Saffron

Thoughts About the Scent
As expected, the opening is fresh and lively, with bright, zesty notes of bergamot and grapefruit leading the charge. It has a slight “shower gel” feel at first, but don’t worry—it’s a passing phase, lingering only in the top notes before disappearing without a trace.
As the fragrance shifts into the mid-notes, things take a bit of a turn. At first, it might seem like another run-of-the-mill “citrus freshie” (and many will probably dismiss it as such) but hold on for a second.
The citrus notes slowly fade into the background, making room for the spice of black pepper and the smoky depth of incense, which blend nicely with an aquatic undertone. The ambroxan and incense add layers of complexity, giving the fragrance a more refined character—something I wasn’t expecting, I must say.
So yes, this fragrance has more to offer than it might first appear, and I’ll give it credit for that. But to be frank, it doesn’t exactly blow me away. It’s clearly aimed at the mass market, and that’s pretty obvious. I’m getting serious “Versace’s response to Dior Sauvage” impressions here—nothing revolutionary, but safe, accessible, and familiar.
This fragrance is like the crowd-pleaser at a party—engineered to sell by the truckload, and yep, it’s done precisely that.
Performance
The performance is surprisingly good, which works in its favour. It lasts about 6-7 hours, with at least 2 hours of solid projection. I honestly didn’t think it had it in it, but there we are—there are no issues in this area.
When and Where?
One of the standout features of this fragrance is its incredible versatility—it’s suitable for almost any occasion at any time of year. Think of it as the “Charles Darwin” of fragrances, constantly adapting to its environment.
If you’re looking for an all-around, one-size-fits-all solution, this might be it.
🔥NEW FRAGRANCE!

OLD SCHOOL — Eau de Toilette
Classic masculinity. Zero nonsense.
A clean, barbershop-inspired fragrance from the days when men walked out of the bathroom smelling like aftershave — not “Ocean Breeze Watermelon Mist.”
Built to showcase Vetiver at its best, Old School opens with bright blended citrus, moves into subtle spice, and settles into a warm mix of woods and earthy confidence.
A sharp, masculine, timeless scent that never goes out of style.
Price: £45
Compliments
As with most blue fragrances, you can expect plenty of compliments. You don’t need to worry about that. Blue fragrances are popular because they’re safe, easygoing, and generally inoffensive. As I said, they are probably the most versatile fragrances you can buy.
Other Options
This fragrance is decent, but as I hinted earlier, there are better options available. One example is Montblanc Legend, which offers similar versatility, consistency, and performance but with a more refined, masculine touch. That’s just my personal opinion.
Another option worth considering is Versace Eros. In my view, it’s the best fragrance Versace has to offer right now. While it may not be as versatile (but can still be worn in several settings), it has a more distinct character and feels less safe or predictable. Again, these are just my thoughts; I’m sure many will disagree.
Conclusion
Here’s the deal: Dylan Blue is a good-quality fragrance—it smells great, is versatile, long-lasting, and reasonably priced. However, it’s not particularly original and leans toward the generic side.
If you’re just starting your fragrance journey and don’t have many options yet, this would be a wise choice, and I’d recommend it.
But if you’ve been collecting fragrances, you might find Dylan Blue somewhat underwhelming. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Could you try ALT fragrance’s perfume, they have great reviews on youtube but I was a bit disappointed in the product when I received a package of Crystal, Executive, and cherry smash (their top sellers). To me the fragrances were very bold and distinct from each other although I was mostly dissatisfied with the smell of each one.
you should review lush fragrances too like the more masculine ones they have
