Greetings, gentlemen. As the UK transitions from summer to a cooler season, I’ve embarked on a journey to explore the warmer, spicier fragrances on the market. For the past week, my choice has been Bvlgari Man in Black EDP (Eau de Parfum).
Bvlgari, a very old and well-established Italian-Greek fashion chain, has been making fragrances for some time now. I am continually hearing hyped-up reviews about their releases, and having never tried any of them before, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So then, with that being said, let’s see what all the fuss is about.
Bvlgari Man in Black is another flanker of the original 2010 release of Bvlgari Man. Frankly, this fragrance line has had more releases than you’ve probably had hot dinners.
According to Fragrantica, its release marks a celebration of the company’s 130-year existence. But who cares about that? Is it any good and worth your dosh? That is what we want to know. Well, my fragrance-loving friends, that is precisely what we will discover in this article. So, let’s get into it.
Pricing
Despite the usual high prices of such fragrances, Bvlgari Man in Black EDP pleasantly surprised me with its reasonable cost. It strikes a perfect balance between luxury and affordability, making it a smart addition to your fragrance collection.
When it comes to getting the best deal, your best bet is almost always the discounters — especially when they’re running coupon codes. And the one that’s never let me down is FragranceX.
They ship worldwide, they only deal in authentic stock, and they’ve got a solid 30-day return policy, which keeps things risk-free.
Prices do move around (sometimes daily, especially during holiday sales), so it’s always worth checking the current deal. 👇

Appearance and presentation
The appearance of Bvlgari Man in Black EDP, while understated and elegant, may not immediately stand out on a crowded shelf. Personally, I tend to gravitate towards fragrances with a more unique and creative aesthetic, but I understand that everyone’s tastes are different, and this design may appeal to others.
Let’s put it this way: It probably won’t catch your eye and make you think, “Wow, I’ve got to check this one out.” The only thing that might make most people pick it up is the brand, which is disappointing and a little lazy if you ask me. But let’s keep our fingers crossed that the scent is more impressive than the design.

Thoughts on the scent
Now, let’s get into what this stuff smells like. It has a bold and harsh opening, which certainly grabs your attention. It may be a little too much for my liking, although that does settle down shortly after, so it’s not too much of an issue.
Essentially, what you get here is a spicy, boozy, sweet mix of florals and woods. The rum, leather, and spices are deliciously blended, I must say. It will be hard for many people to dislike this when it starts getting going. It’s not something I would typically go for, maybe a little too modernistic for me, although there is no denying that it does smell very nice indeed.
It has an overall masculine, seductive sexiness that comes off well. The leather and spices give it a rugged, manly charm, while the sweet undertones add a sensual allure. I have read other slightly bizarre reviews saying that it could even be considered a unisex scent, and I disagree; this is a man’s fragrance, so make no mistake about it.
This will be a great option if you’re a younger guy in your 20s or 30s who is big into the social scene and wants to impress the ladies.
We’ve all seen the guy on the commute into work looking particularly well put together. Maybe he’s wearing a navy blue suit, brown shoes, carrying a designer leather bag. It looks sharp, although it’s not all that original. Well, that guy is probably wearing Bvlgari Man in Black. He is Bvlgari Man in Black in human form.
Performance
This fragrance’s performance is quite decent as an EDP. It lasted around 5 hours on my skin and projected well for the first 2. While it’s not a powerhouse, it’s noticeable wherever you wear it, giving you a confident and reassuring feeling about your choice.
Want to try this fragrance on your skin?
If you’d prefer to sample it first, these are my two favourite
and most reliable places to get authentic decants:

When and where?
It’s best suited for evening wear in the colder seasons, perfect for formal events, nights out, and similar occasions.
It doesn’t have enough muscle to be considered a “club banger,” so you’ll probably be disappointed if that’s what you’re after. You’d be much better off with something like Eros or 1 Million for that setting. Keep it low-key, and you’ll be just fine with this one.
Compliments
You will garner positive attention with this, provided you wear it appropriately. Remember, this isn’t a fragrance that flies under the radar, and there will always be people who dislike it. I suggest going easy on the trigger with only 1-3 sprays so you don’t overdo it.
The worst thing you could do with this fragrance is overspray it. If you do, it will quickly lose its balance and become an overly sweet synthetic mess, which nobody wants.
Final thoughts
Considering its performance and price, I wholeheartedly recommend Bvlgari Man in Black. It’s not what I would consider an “all-rounder.” That said, if you’re a modern man looking for a fragrance for that special occasion, this is a solid choice that won’t disappoint.
