Greetings, gentlemen. This week, I embarked on a daring olfactory adventure, testing the warm and spicy Montblanc Emblem in the midst of a British summer. Despite the odds, I was pleasantly surprised by its unique blend, a scent that unexpectedly complimented the summer heat. But hold your excitement; there’s more to discuss regarding this one.
For those who don’t know, Montblanc Emblem was released in 2014 and created by Sonia Constant and Olivier Pescheux, so it’s getting on a bit now, you might say. Nevertheless, it still looks and smells like a modernistic scent that keeps up with the times, and we will delve into the specifics of that shortly.
So, let’s address the question on your mind: Is this fragrance worth your time and investment? Let’s find out.
Pricing
Given the steady increase in the price of Montblanc fragrances in recent years, you might expect Emblem to have a hefty price tag. However, compared to other Montblanc fragrances like Explorer, I believe Emblem’s price is perfectly justified.
When it comes to getting the best deal, your best bet is almost always the discounters — especially when they’re running coupon codes. And the one that’s never let me down is FragranceX.
They ship worldwide, they only deal in authentic stock, and they’ve got a solid 30-day return policy, which keeps things risk-free.
Prices do move around (sometimes daily, especially during holiday sales), so it’s always worth checking the current deal. 👇

Appearance and presentation
If you weren’t aware, Montblanc is a German company as old as the hills. It was well-known for making luxury fountain pens before expanding into the world of fragrances and other products.
All of their fragrance bottles share a standard design, with subtle differences in colour and shape. The Montblanc Emblem bottle, for instance, is sleek and masculine, resembling a fancy fountain pen in the form of a fragrance bottle (if that makes any sense at all).
This star-shaped design departs from the more traditional, cylindrical bottles of other Montblanc fragrances, giving it a unique and modern appeal. Well, at least that’s how it comes across to me.
The Notes
Top Notes – Clary Sage, Grapefruit, Cardamom
Middle Notes – Violet Leaf, Cinnamon
Base Notes – Tonka Bean, Woody Notes
My thoughts about the scent
One thing you often see in modern fragrances is very few notes in the composition, which is reflected in Emblem. So, the scent opens with a pleasant, fresh burst of notes that certainly grabs your attention. As it matures, the violet leaf and cinnamon add a touch of sophistication, elegantly blended with the woods in the base.
It’s essentially a warm, aromatic, spicy scent, although the spices have a very light touch, at least to my nose. If you’re a fan of these kinds of fragrances, you’ll probably enjoy this one. The scent overall has a sensual, masculine edge, and I like it. The only slightly annoying thing is that it has a subtle (and it is subtle) mall scent feel. I’m being a little picky here, but I still think it’s pretty good.
Performance
Unfortunately, Emblem’s performance does not match that of other fragrances in its category. It projects for roughly 45 minutes at 1-2 ft before settling into a barely detectable skin scent. The overall longevity is around 2-3 hours on a good day.
While Emblem smells good, its performance is a letdown. The scent barely lasts an hour, which is disappointing. This is an area where Montblanc could undoubtedly improve I would suggest.
D&G The One EDT is another similar scent with the exact same issue. It’s pure magic in a bottle but only lasts a short while. It’s just not good enough, guys.

Compliments
Well, if anyone were able to smell the damn thing for long enough, then you most likely would receive a compliment because it does smell good.
That said, I didn’t receive any compliments, and I suspect that’s most likely because it had worn off by the time I came in contact with anybody.
When and where to wear it?
Emblem is a versatile fragrance that transcends seasonal boundaries. While it’s a perfect choice for the colder months, it can also be confidently worn in the summer. I usually opt for a fresh aquatic-type fragrance like Aqua Di Gio during that time of year, but this would also be OK.
It is also acceptable for day and evening wear, although it would be better suited for formal occasions rather than casual ones, in my opinion. I think it would be particularly well suited for a professional business environment such as an office or a meeting. It could add that extra touch of sharpness to your overall appearance that you need to land that job or deal.

Should you buy?
So, gents, here’s the deal. The scent of Emblem is undeniably excellent. However, I was left a bit disappointed by its short lifespan on my skin. This performance issue might deter me from making a purchase. But hey, it could just be my skin chemistry. There’s a chance that others might have had better luck. So, I’d recommend reading a few more reviews before making your decision, as there’s still hope for this fragrance (maybe).
