Gentlemen, if you can remember, last week, we talked about Antonio Banderas’s Black Seduction. This was a cheap, great-smelling fragrance with a lot going for it, but sadly, the performance was well below par.

You may be thinking to yourself, I wonder if there is another cheapie out there that smelled equally good but had the projection and longevity to back it up. Well, if you did, you’re in luck because good old Uncle G has been searching on your behalf and has come across a little beauty known as Nautica Voyage.

I didn’t have to search that far mind, because it is apparently (according to Jeremy Fragrance) The most-sold men’s fragrance on Amazon. I don’t know if that is true, but it certainly is up there, judging by the reviews.

Nautica Voyage, is classed as a woody aquatic fragrance for men, which was launched in 2006. The perfumer behind it is Maurice Roucel, well-established in the industry and has worked with various houses, many of which you would have heard of before.

I have worn it for a few days in preparation for this review, so without further ado, let’s get into it.

Appearance and Presentation

I like the bottle; it’s simple and elegant, with an oceanic sailing vibe that works very well. Unfortunately, not the same can be said about the atomiser, as it barely works. You can’t have it all.

Price and where to buy?

This is an absolute steal. At this price, it is safe to say it is suitable for a blind buy.

As I mentioned, it is a very popular fragrance; therefore, you will find it everywhere online and in stores without issue.

When it comes to getting the best deal, your best bet is almost always the discounters — especially when they’re running coupon codes. And the one that’s never let me down is FragranceX.

They ship worldwide, they only deal in authentic stock, and they’ve got a solid 30-day return policy, which keeps things risk-free.

Prices do move around (sometimes daily, especially during holiday sales), so it’s always worth checking the current deal. 👇

Thoughts about the scent

This is essentially a fresh, aquatic and out-of-the-shower scent. In the opening, you will get hit with those crisp green and apple notes. It is a little harsh and alcohol-based, but don’t worry too much, as it does settle down after around 10-15 minutes.

From then on, the watery and aquatic accords will start to surface. It’s light and airy, with very faint woody notes that can be detected in the base. It is synthetic, of course, but it doesn’t smell cheap or nasty. It’s also a linear scent, meaning the smell remains more or less consistent throughout its life on your skin.

It’s nice-smelling stuff guys, and it reminds me of chilling on a beach on a hot summer’s day. I really like it, and I can’t think of a scenario where the people around you wouldn’t appreciate it. In my opinion, it’s one of the best-smelling cheapies out there and would be an excellent starter fragrance for those new to the game.

If you’re a fan of this, there’s a good chance you’ll also like F by Ferragamo Free Time by Salvatore Ferragamo (bit of a mouthful, that, isn’t it?) It’s the same kind of thing, although a bit more woody and again, the performance is fantastic. Check out my full review of that here.

Compliments?

Absolutely no issues at all with this one. It’s a crowd-pleaser, and I guarantee you will receive compliments.

Is it masculine?

According to Nautica, this fragrance is for the confident man who dares to take on uncharted waters and discover new adventures.

I’m unsure about “unchartered waters”, as this is a relatively safe and inoffensive scent. But yes, although not exactly hairs on chest stuff, it still does have an air of masculinity about it.

Performance

Regarding the performance, I wasn’t expecting much, as aquatic-type fragrances don’t tend to last long on my skin. Fortunately though, I couldn’t have been more wrong, as I found the performance to be fantastic. I got around 8 hours of longevity, and most people within approximately 2 to 3 feet could smell this on me. It is an Eau de Toilette, and these fragrances typically tend to perform moderately with a concentration level of around 5-15%

It’s a great scent, but what impressed me the most was how well it performed, and I am delighted with it. I will be purchasing an entire bottle for this reason alone, as I only currently have a sample. Taking everything into consideration with the meagre price tag, this is a must-buy.

🔥NEW FRAGRANCE!

OLD SCHOOL — Eau de Toilette

Classic masculinity. Zero nonsense.
A clean, barbershop-inspired fragrance from the days when men walked out of the bathroom smelling like aftershave — not “Ocean Breeze Watermelon Mist.”

Built to showcase Vetiver at its best, Old School opens with bright blended citrus, moves into subtle spice, and settles into a warm mix of woods and earthy confidence.

A sharp, masculine, timeless scent that never goes out of style.

Price: £45

When to wear

It will be at its best during the warm and hot weather, but you can wear it in colder seasons, as I am now. Remember guys, lighter fragrances such as these can be worn all year round; it’s the heavier ones that you need to be careful with. Keep this in mind, and you won’t go too far wrong.

Where to wear

Again, it is an all-rounder suitable for any occasion and screams office/signature scent. In addition to that, it would be great for the gym or even just something pleasant to wear around the house. You don’t need to overthink it, and I guarantee everyone will love it.

Conclusion

There you have it guys, a bargain of a fragrance, and I could not recommend it enough. Yes, I know it has been hyped up by many “influencers”, and you would be right to be sceptical. However, in this case, the attention is well deserved, so give it a shot. I am always interested in hearing your thoughts, so comment below on your experiences with this one.
