If you are looking for a classic masculine fragrance that sets itself apart from most of today’s current releases, you could do a lot worse than Quorum by Antonio Puig. It was released in 1981, a time when a man’s cologne was so strong it could interfere with your radio reception.
Sadly, most (if not all) of these fragrances have since been reformulated and are, in many cases, shadows of their former selves. Fortunately, this one still holds up relatively well in some areas and might be what you’re looking for if you prefer older, more traditional scents from that era.
Where to buy
Despite being an older fragrance that few people wear nowadays, it is still widely available in most of the usual places. You will probably find it in the back of the store in the cheapie section next to Brut or Old Spice. I paid £15.00 for it at Beauty Base, which seems to be about the going rate. If you do some online searching and are willing to pay more, you may even be lucky enough to get your hands on a vintage bottle.
When it comes to getting the best deal, your best bet is almost always the discounters — especially when they’re running coupon codes. And the one that’s never let me down is FragranceX.
They ship worldwide, they only deal in authentic stock, and they’ve got a solid 30-day return policy, which keeps things risk-free.
Prices do move around (sometimes daily, especially during holiday sales), so it’s always worth checking the current deal. 👇

Presentation
The Overall presentation from the box to the bottle is very 80s and hasn’t changed much over the years, apart from a few variations with the shape and lid. It’s simple and elegant; the brown and moss-green colours give it an earthy feel, and it looks great in my 80s collection.
The scent
These are the notes according to Fragrantica,
Top Notes – Artemisia, Caraway, Lemon, Bergamot, Grapefruit
Middle Notes – Pine Tree, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Carnation, Cyclamen, Jasmin
Base Notes – Oakmoss, Tobacco, Leather, Amber
This is a very green and woody scent blended with leather and tobacco notes. You can expect the opening to be harsh, bitter and somewhat spicy; the oakmoss becomes more prominent as it settles into the dry-down. I read a review somewhere stating that if dark green had a scent, this would be it, and I completely understand what they meant. It has a beautiful fresh, herbaceous aroma, like the smell of damp crushed leaves walking through the forest.

This one is compared to Ralph Lauren Polo Green or Paco Rabanne Pour Homme quite a bit, which is unsurprising as the notes are very similar. In fact, one of the noses behind Quorum (Carlos Beniam) also created the Polo Green scent in 1978, and he is still actively making perfumes today. Dunhill Icon (another fantastic scent) is an example of his more recent work.
Is it manly?
Yes! Rugged green scents were popular in the 70s and 80s and considered very masculine, for a good reason. I remember someone describing it as having Miami Vice or Magnum PI in a bottle, so you get the idea.
Performance
What about the performance? Well, it’s average to below average and doesn’t even come close to the earlier versions. Projection is okay for the first hour or two before it becomes a skin scent. In terms of longevity, you would do well to get 5-6 hours out of it before it has disappeared completely.
You will be disappointed if you expect the same performance as the bottle you may have owned years ago. I’m not a vintage bottle snob, nor do I own one for this fragrance, but in this case, I would consider purchasing one. That said, if you are okay with moderate-performing scents, this should be fine.
🔥NEW FRAGRANCE!

OLD SCHOOL — Eau de Toilette
Classic masculinity. Zero nonsense.
A clean, barbershop-inspired fragrance from the days when men walked out of the bathroom smelling like aftershave — not “Ocean Breeze Watermelon Mist.”
Built to showcase Vetiver at its best, Old School opens with bright blended citrus, moves into subtle spice, and settles into a warm mix of woods and earthy confidence.
A sharp, masculine, timeless scent that never goes out of style.
Price: £45
When and where to wear it
It could be worn for most occasions and is unlikely to offend anybody. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but it’s not strong enough to cause too much of a disturbance. If you want something to dress up a little more, Polo Green is a better choice, in my opinion. I would avoid it in the heat and opt for something lighter or more aquatic, but the right guy might be able to pull it off.
Conclusion
So there you have it, a current release of an 80s classic that, while still retaining some of the original’s magic, is not quite the powerhouse it once was. At £15.00, it’s still great value for money, and I recommend it for casual wear. If you own a vintage bottle, let me know your thoughts on how it compares.
I hope this review has been helpful to you, and stay tuned for more of my thoughts on the best and worst men’s products of all time (more of the best than the worst).
